This week the University of Leicester said that the results of the testing that was conducted on the remains found in the location where the monestary "Greyfriars" was located, would be announced soon. The results from the extensive testing that has been ongoing is expected to be given at a press conference tentatively scheduled to take place during the first week of February.

For months, the world has been waiting on test results on whether remains found under a car parking lot in Leicester are those of King Richard III. Earlier reports indicated there is strong evidence that suggests the King was buried in this location.
Last summer Digital Journal reported on a search to find the final resting place of King Richard III. Information had surfaced that led historians to believe the 15th century King was buried under a parking lot in Leicester, England. Richard III had died during the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
It was widely believed after his death, King Richard III had been stripped and brought to a Franciscan Friary. The Friary is known as "Greyfriars", but over centuries where the Friary was located had been lost. Last year information surfaced that indicated the possible location, which turned out was currently a city parking lot.
Last summer the dig commenced and the remains of two bodies were found. One set of remains had characteristics that were consistent with what was known of King Richard III and his death. The other body was female.
At this time researchers are currently awaiting DNA test results. Samples were taken from Michael Ibsen, of Canada and the last known living descendent, and compared with those found.
"I'm as excited to find out what the tests have found as much as anyone," Richard Buckley, lead archaeologist on the project, told This is Leicestershire. "We've had a few phone calls asking what the results are, but we genuinely still don't know."
So while results are not ready in January as hoped, it shouldn't be too much longer.Отсюда:
